Smeg! If you’re of a certain age, it’s probably a big red starship where it is cold outside and there’s no kind of atmosphere… 🌠
If you’re of a certain, certain age, it may well be an Italian kitchen appliance, like a kettle or a toaster. 🍲
If you ask Google, it will tell you that Smeg stands for – Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla… 🤷♂️
You guessed it, our phish this week, is all about Smeg, but not just Smeg…Curry’s and the GSA(!) make an appearance too… Confused? So was I…read on.
It’s such a Frankenstein of a Phish, I’ve decided to include the original too this week. How do we know it’s a Phish? 👾
1) From Name is a giveaway it’s a phish, Curry’s™ UK0811 Shouldn’t be fooling anyone. Hover over it, we can see it’s from a nebulous send address (Amonisnails@eclstore.com).
2) My mum used to tell me that ‘If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is’ and winning internet prizes is the best example of that adage. That kettle looks lovely, but I’ve not won it. 👵
3) Many elements of the content in this Phish are not relevant to each other. We have Curry’s and Smeg together, a plausible promotion and combination, but i’m not convinced they would be co-marketing with the GSA.
4) There is some ABSOLUTELY FILTHY links in this phish. I’ve been scared of clicking them myself whilst copying them. Anything containing (lnks.gd) is not going to have a good outcome. The ‘Get Started Now’ button goes to some sort of Azure cloud. 🔗
5) The address they’ve added in order to legit is a FedEX authorized shipcenter. ✉
It’s a 4/10 for this phish, thankfully there are many giveaways and once you’ve worked out you’ve probably not won the smeg, you’ll not be clicking.
